Hey Arizona. AMA Pro Grand National Flat Track is Back!

It’s been 30 years since the best flat track motorcycle racers have come to the Valley of the Sun. No need to wait any longer. Some riders got off to a hot start at the Daytona dirt track , but the Turf Paradise race is the season’s first on a mile oval, where speed is just as important as precision in close handlebar to handlebar racing.

The Arizona Mile will feature all the AMA Pro series’ best riders, but the season has already seen one surprise. Fan favorite Sammy Halbert is leading the champ standings after the first round of racing. But two-time national champion Jake Johnson shook off the rust after a year away from the tour to claim a win on the Daytona short track, showing he is back in form and nipping on Halbert’s rear tire in the standings. In typical AMA Pro Flat Track style, the win was a close one. Johnson crossed the finish line less than two seconds in front of his teammate.

It’s been a long while since Arizona has seen a show like this. All of the AMA Pro Flat Track stars will be at Turf Paradise. If you haven’t seen the best dirt track racing on two wheels, come check us out.
